supporting the children of Rwanda

Football coaches, doing our bit

As kid's football coaches, we know all about the the early starts and long hours, lugging equipment around and setting up the pitch, being role models and mentors to young kids - being responsible for keeping their love of football alive…

It’s hard work but incredibly rewarding

Scottish Football for Rwanda takes that to the next level, by helping children in one of the World’s most inspiring and deserving nations

“Daunting, unknown, challenging, emotional, exciting, rewarding, amazing, something everyone needs to do in their life!”

Travel to Africa and volunteer as a football coach or player for 10 days…

Making an impact

Every trip not only brightens up the lives of the kids we meet, but we do our best to make a material difference, from funding to equipment - no matter how small, it all counts

Experience of a lifetime

An overused phrase sometimes, but these trips truly are the experience of a lifetime for the coaches involved

Rwanda has a recent history that we can only shake our heads at in disbelief and horror, and it has crippling levels of child poverty. Yet the people you’ll meet show an incredible resilience and zest for life - it changes your perspective on what really matters in life

"I felt every possible emotion on this trip and used virtually every adjective to describe it. An incredible experience that I'm proud and honoured to have been a part of."

“How far Rwanda and its people have come in such a short period of time is truly inspiring.  A real life impacting experience. Any coach who gets the opportunity, go!”

What’s involved?

Over 10 days a group of 14 coaches or 16 youth players will visit several parts of Rwanda, from the capital Kigali to the Western Provinces, organising football sessions for kids of all ages and abilities, from Rwanda’s leading professional clubs to disabled children

Many of these sessions will be to an outreach organisation, to which the group will also make a donation of funds and/or equipment

The trip will also visit several Genocide Memorial sites, to put everything into perspective
